There is so much sexual abuse in America- especially of girls, but boys come in for it too, just to a lesser extent. That's a really horrible burden to carry, but a lot of people do manage to work through it. I'm grateful my parents problems didn't run that way. It's not like a child can control what family they are born into or adopted into. Victims of sexual abuse and severe physical abuse have the most difficult road to walk. I wish there was a lot more support out there for them.

In high school I knew two girls who had been sexually abused/exploited as young teens. It isn't like people usually share the information.

One by a relative with a 15 year age difference and the other was a runaway that ended up with a bunch of bikers in central California. It is incredibly common.
