CA bids for CSC!!!!
biz.yahoo.com

This is a big one! I had expected many of the smaller players to be acquired before 2000 (and still do), but not a company the size of CSC.

Monday's copy of The Independent newspaper in London carried a top of the front page story entitled, "Millennium Bug: Blair goes to war". Unfortunately, their website does not seem to give access to past issues (or even a search function!).

Highlights:

Blair and Clinton agreed to table the subject before the G8 at next meeting.

Contingency planning underway in Whitehall to protect against breakdown in key industries such as gas, elect., water, rail, broadcasting, and telecom. (Sounds like WW3).

A new Cabinet committee, chaired by the Pres. of the Board of Trade, will "focus particularly on infrastructure" (Gov't quote) -- insuring placement of contingency plans.

Source close to Prime Minister predicted possibility of 2% decline in national income of G8 countries in 2000. That's œ250bn/$405bn.

No. 10 source on small to medium-sized companies: "This sector may have serious difficulty in operating through the millennium."

Panic is here, matey.

MAY BE OF INTEREST TO ALL WITH PC's????

There may be a freebie product out there as well.

Also, although you can do essentially the same thing in WIN 95 already, their winlock product looks like it would make it easier graphically for the computer-impaired.

I remain,
