That's not unusual at all. I have seen numerous retired seniors over the years hang out in McDonalds in NYC and have coffee to get away from their home since they were bored and had cabin fever. I know because I use to tutor some ghetto children in public places like McDonalds and Starbucks because I was asking for trouble if I parked my car on their Street or neighborhood. Above all, I would talk to the seniors a bit after my tutoring session was finished. Some seniors meet their friends at McDonalds to talk and it is a cheap way to meet outside the home.
