Exactly. You guys were a step ahead of my thought process. I have not been lurking on this forum so I did not know if that idea had been addressed. All signs seem to point that way. I think you are right about management and I have been on the short side of this company a couple of times. CPQ makes perfect sense. It wants to be the number one company and the only way is produce its own stuff. The next gen AMD chip is going to run on the Alpha MB. Eckhard has stone ties to Intel which Intel cannot afford to break and probably could not even if they could afford to do so. He has Intel in a bad position because the FTC may nix the sale of the Alpha (that may be dated info). No matter what the foundry was all that was sold not the chip. I can see a world where CPQ sells Intel servers and workstations, and AlphaServers with AMD/Alpha workstations. He would have his fabs and entry into many different areas he lacks right now.
