Yes, stocks can go up with rising interest rates, but with valuations at sky high levels at the beginning of the year, they offered little in the way of resistance to Fed tightening.

Looking out very short term, there's no question that stocks can bounce somewhat here since they have basically fallen close to 450 points in almost a straight line since the mid-August highs.
