According to Maria,

Kurlak said DRAM prices will be down another 20 to 30 percent for Mar to Jun quarter as Korea keeps pumping out Dram's.

Stock prices will fall after this rally.

Yousef, obviously I'm not a major TK fan (and may be suffering from "the Stockhom Syndrome") but if the question at this point is "who's making more sense on the group?" Kurlak or people like John-Boy Joseph (Monty), "Roxy the Flying Squirrel" (Goldman), litte Hans "Toutman" (Pru) or BT Alex Brown...

...it's Kurlak.

I'll criticize the guy when I think he's wrong or being a little "selective" in terms of his arguments (and without hearing what he's saying, maybe that's what's happening now), but at this point, if what's he's saying comes down to "why buy now when these things might be on sale mid-summer"?, I agree.

The huge relief rally puts some of the chip stock right where they were before the meltdown just as some of the tangible economic (as opposed to psychological) effects are set to hit.

Then again, maybe the "Asian crisis" means any bad news will be taken as "well, it's already in the price", but with the style of "big money" active in the mkts. now, I'm not so sure the "discounting" mechanism is working as well looking at what's likely to occur over the next 2 Q's.

Who knows? I'm short two $SOX issues (not MU, not with the Goldman conf. haning out there...which come to think of it makes this IMHO yet another call of quite interesting timing), so I'm obviously not unhappy if a Kurlaking hits the sector today, but if you take away the messenger and look just at the message - I'd have to agree with the guy.

Although TK is probably realizing by now that it's a lot easier for an analyst to make stocks move up than down <g>

Good trading,

Tom
