The market tanked during the 1990 military build-up against Iraq, but then surged when the actual fighting began.

I agree that the opposite will occur this time: the market has soared and ignored the coming military action, setting itself up for a fall when the shooting starts.

Timoteo, I share your sentiment that the Iraq situation might turn the market. The scandal also may. But when the down turn starts, I expect it to be a prolonged event.
