Larry: That article was published on the wire services yesterday (10th) and reported on this thread. I was surprised it did not receive more reaction here. If true, the picture painted by the analyst helps to explain why CSCO is regarded as the impregnable king of the hill. It mutes the notion that BAY will steal significant market share with its fast introduction of GBE and amplifies the notion that BAY has a large product gap in the WAN area which remains the favoured configuration of a majority of the executives interviewed. It implies that they could wait until CSCO catches up with BAY's offerings in GBE.

I assume that the response is that WAN will be giving way to GBE rather more quickly than is assumed in this article and that BAY will gain incremental market share from CSCO and perhaps 3COM and that as WAN declines in importance CSCO will lose its advantage - or that BAY will add WAN products to its offerings.

The bottom line of the reported survey, though, is to confirm the market's view of CSCO as the overwhelming leader. IMHO

Larry: In my last posting substitute "LAN" for "WAN". Trading imbalance today resulted in a delayed opening of 13 minutes and an initial volume of 250,000 with a 7/16th decline. Volume then stalled for a few minutes. Significance? BAY attracting institutional traders.
