The Seattle Times reported this morning that Index was to be evacuated. I think Neeka and her husband were going to stay with one of the kids.

TY!!

The wind shifted over the last 24 hours, and we came back home today. There is still a little smoke, but last night things changed and brought an offshore flow in from the Pacific. Also.....the AQI is down from 181 yesterday to 50 today...........huge difference.

Hwy 2 is closed from mp 37 up to mp 49 (Stevens Pass.) The Bolt Creek fire has grown to 9600 acres and 5% of the fire is contained. The Hot Shots arrived yesterday, and they're making good progress.

We're glad to be home, and feel confident the fire will miss us. A report I heard earlier said, "the winds out of the west are blowing the fire back upon itself."

Good news!

P.S. just talked to a fire Marshall from Bend, Ore, and he is going to recommend they lower the fire level from 3 to 1. He wasn't sure they'd take his advice, but that is his opinion.
