No.
seems lots of folks would have been better off on their native continent.

Okay, some would have been but in general, the great and glorious British Empire improved life enormously for the local yokels as well as the often desperate migrants to far off colonies [such as my 4 orphaned maternal grandparents, and 3 children with solo mother paternal grandparent side]. The Chinese diaspora has been great too, for them and where they moved to.

The Maoris lived stone age Malthusian genocidal cannibal lives, in "harmony" with nature, brutal and short, though the chiefs and bosses did okay of course in their ponga huts. Their slaves suffered vastly and were eaten. Now they swish around in swanky cars, have warm nice houses and enjoy modernity though their frequent lifestyle choices [booze, fags, carbohydrate diets, obesity, diabetes, heart disease] are bad. Cabbages, carrots, onions, lemons, silverbeet, potatoes, kumara, bananas, oranges etc are cheap enough. Cigarettes and booze are not compulsory. Nor is sitting eating instead of doing.

People have migrated, comingled, for all of history. Few stayed local, especially women, who like other primates like to mate across boundaries [genetic variation], while male DNA is much more tightly circumscribed geographically due to tribal genocidal warfare for always until the last century or so. Even in the 20th century, genocidal conflict was common enough.

Being a slave in Nigeria 300 years ago was horrible. European slaves taken to north Africa didn't have fun either. Nor was it great fun when Vikings and everyone else went marauding. Genghis Khan and Islamic jihad were quite merciless in their conquests.

The American conquests of the last 60 years left millions dead too, with enthusiastic local participation. Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Iraq vs Iran, Vietnam of course, Ukraine now which is heading for supersonic all-time world record cataclysmically catastrophic calamity of carnage and starvation. Plenty of others did their local carnage - Pol Pot, Mao's maelstrom, Stalin and USSR, Rwanda, Angola, Mozambique and a lot more besides.

I like voting. Then play golf, make money by doing good things. Look at Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong for decades and now China has spent decades ditching the totalitarian ways of communist kleptocracy - adopting free enterprise virtuous Victorian values, imperfectly, but wayyyy better than before.

Many people vote with their feet. Of 6 million NZ citizens, about 1 million have voted with their feet and shot though to places all over the world. You'll find a Kiwi everywhere, such as Alan Beaven in the cockpit of flight 93 on 9/11.

Made in China was a fantastic thing for people around the world and in China, though people whine like a fleet of Koreans [or BLM - Burn Loot Murder] about it now. Hooray for China.
