I hate to add to the muddy waters of discussing another stock on the COSTCO thread, but I have to put in my 2 cents (it's probably worth less). I think shorting AOL is suicide...yes, SUICIDE. I agree that the service and content are moribund. I use AOL as an ISP just based on laziness. When they raise my rates I plan on moving to an independent ISP where I can use Netscape Communicator (my office browser) over this crappy MS Explorer.

So why not short it? The last I heard, my buddy who works at an investment bank in LA was short AOL and has not been heard from since. If you want to bet on a downward move, buy the puts. They are a lot safer downside bet with limited exposure.

By the way, as I hate AOL, I'd be very interested in hearing when and how Duncan Idaho is going to make his move. One day this colossus is going to fall hard and fast.
