You are not going to get a phone equivalent to an Apple phone for $100. The top Samsung phones are not really much cheaper than Apple phones either.

Oh yes I am! :--) at least from my perspective, My Samsung A03 (https://www.elgiganten.se/product/mobiler-tablets-smartklockor/mobiltelefon/samsung-galaxy-a03-smartphone-464gb-rod/414919 1190 SEK is = 105 USD) is just as good.

Then again, I never was able to tell much of a difference between the "flagship" phones and those just a notch above "the cheapest shit out there". Last year, I bought an Alcatel for $45; that was a shit phone, and a cheapid investment. (Like buying a cigar butt a little too cheaply – something's often deeply wrong...) I couldn't keep using that one, I threw it away after like a month.
But if you just go up to the $100 threshold, and go with a familiar brand like Samsung, in my experience, you will get everything you will reasonably need, as long as you are not a super-advanced/professional user.
By the way, isn't it kind of crazy that I can get a handheld computer for a price lower than that of a pair of Levi's jeans? Something's wrong with one of those prices – or both...

My wife and I like and use Apple but have an aversion to paying almost 1k or more for a phone. So, we simply look for deals from our provider. My wife has a 6 year old iPhone 6S plus that Apple just announced will no longer update with their new software releases. Just so happened Xfinity was offering a $400 off deal on iPhones. If you compare the 13 to the new basic 14, there is very little difference, and with the $100 additional price cut on the 13 by Apple an $800 phone suddenly becomes a $300 phone. That's a deal we will take <ggg>. We paid around $300 each for our older iPhones also when Xfinity was creating their cellular service. By the way, if you don't use much data (they have wifi hotspots all over our area), you can get dirt cheap service from them. I think we are grandfathered in terms of pricing, but right now we pay 17 bucks total for two lines per month. That is up from an incredible $7/month when we started. They use the Verizon network and do require you purchase wifi from them.
