I don't think that's how it works. Your broker isn't swapping stuff around between accounts.

<< I wish there was a way to specify whether you want to buy on margin, or from your cash account, like I can with my regular broker. >>

The only way you specify buying on margin is to buy more stock than you have equity! Buying on margin is not the same as buying stock in a margin account! You can buy marginable stock in a margin account but NOT be using margin!

You can have two seperate accounts (one cash, one margin) but there are very few reasons why you would want to specify having your ANCR shares in a cash account.

Hope this helps...

I wish there was a way to specify whether you want to buy on margin, or from your cash account, like I can with my regular broker.

Discover (ex-Lombard) gives you just that choice on their online trading form. Now you have me confused: I can't understand anymore why I should ever specify the cash account, given that apparently I could just as well buy in the margin account though not on margin... can anyone enlighten me?

Craig, it seems that you & I should swap online brokerages to be happy... ;-)
