That acidification resulted in the biggest extinction event on earth about 252 million years ago, avoiding a repeat of that extinction event strikes me as pragmatic. Reducing life on earth down to the microbe stage and waiting a few million years for it to bounce back does not seem like a viable solution.

Additional CO2 in the atmosphere isn't going to be nearly as catastrophic.

If you want a real "climate change", then a nuclear World War III should do the trick. There is some really stupid saber rattling going on these days..
