We may be on the precipice of a treatment for Alzheimer's because someone didn't have his head up his ass and decided, "Damn, we've got all this data in EHR systems, why don't we use it?" After some simple regression analysis across 7 million patients, they determined that people who took Viagra had a 70% lower chance of developing Alzheimers. There is even some evidence it will help in rebuilding degenerated nerves. There is a really good chance that the most devastating illness, the one that was going to break the bank, can be controlled with a simple, harmless generic drug. Someone could be doing that with treatments for Covid? Yeah, they could.
