That's actually extremely surprising. Would think that with the mileage figures they were getting, removing the wipers and mirrors, disconnecting the alternator or seriously underdriving it and all accessories would've gotten them to their goal. I don't think "Yeah, it got 100 mpg, but has no mirrors or wipers" would be as noticeable as "No, it didn't get 100 mpg". Did they run a stock Metro with it this time? I would think a stocker could get at least 60 mpg at that speed, and probably a lot more with overinflated tires, taller gearing, etc.
