Hi Paul, Thanks for joining in. If there is a subject shrouded in mystery today I think it is tithing. I looked up Matt. 23:23 and what I read is Jesus is chiding the pharisees because they tithed even the tenth of the leaves of their plants keeping the law on tithing but neglected "justice and mercy and faithfulness". Jesus calls these things "weightier provisions of the law" putting them above tithing in importance. In verse 24 He says they "strain out a gnat" (tithing) "and swallow a camel" (neglect justice, mercy, faithfulness). These pharisees He was talking to were still under the law also as Jesus had not died or rose again at that time. I'm looking forward to more comments on this. have a great day, Bob
