JIT inventory control has been great for efficiency, but is terrible if there are any disruptions.
I think over the next year or two we will see many strange and unexpected things (assuming nothing worse happens). The global economy is highly integrated and interdependent - and yet, it’s in the process of breaking up into new blocks - and remains to be seen how they will all work together.

Read that right now the wealthy European nations are outbidding poor countries for the limited supplies of Nat gas. Due to shortages and high prices there will be shortages of fertilizers - and consequently, smaller harvests - and food shortages.

Whoever damaged the pipeline - were they planning to starve and freeze millions in poor countries? Because, likely, they will.
