David,

SFAM stated that they sold 15 machines last quarter. If AMD's orders were to be evenly distributed over the next eight quarter then we have ~nine machines per quarter - well below 15. As I wrote in my last post, I have revised downward the orders from AMD over the next two years from 70 to 48. That would give us an average of six machines per quarter, not nine. I think that what happened in the current quarter is that DRAM/Korean related sales went into the toilet, and that probably accounts for 3 or 4 machines. Speedfam is forecasting revenue shortfalls of ~$10 million for the quarter which accounts nicely for four Auriga-C's. However, the other part of their business is also weak so very possibly the shortfall on the CMP side was something less than four machines.

Either way, a 3-4 machine shortfall is not at all surprising to me considering the environment in Korea and SEA in general and doesn't imply at all, IMO, that AMD has changed their ambitious plans.
