I have recently been thinking about Buffett and his insurance operations - in particular cyber attack underwriting.

He is constantly sitting on those cash piles which are at rates x times higher than just a few months ago. Plus he probably has significant pricing power in the policies he underwrites.

Also, remember 07-08 he was taking large preferred share positions in cash starved businesses. I feel he is doing the same now at nice rates too.

Every time I feel comfortable about Berkshire/Insurance there is always something that reminds me it isn't so cut and dry.

Take this 2 min clip about policy reserves and taxes in Berkshire's reinsurance business
