Wharfie,
It was national news by the time he commented.
Lots of issues become "national news." Let's take a look at what CNN considers to be "national news" at this very moment:

US News – Top national stories and latest headlines - CNN

Purported Trump supporter who claimed Antifa burned down his camper admits to staged attack, DOJ says | CNN

Kyle Mullen: Navy SEAL candidate died of bacterial pneumonia in hours after Hell Week training, Navy investigation finds | CNN Politics

The Fed only cares about inflation. That's bad news | CNN Business

Student loan forgiveness: Judge hears case on whether Biden's plan can move forward | CNN Politics

Jurors in Parkland shooter trial begin deliberations to determine if Nikolas Cruz will receive the death sentence | CNN

Some of those stories deserve the president's attention. Maybe the Navy SEAL Hell Week training. Definitely inflation. Of course the judicial review of student loan forgiveness.

Other stories do not, such as whether the Parkland shooter deserves the death penalty. That is best left to the jury, and for the president to comment on that would be improper, not to mention detrimental to the prosecutor's case.

So the question remains: Why should a bunch of racist remarks from an L.A. City Council member deserve the president's attention?

The answer is because he has to. Otherwise Brandon would face the wrath of cancel culture.

"Silence is racism!" the cancer culturalists declare ...
