I am agnostic, too, but note that General Autumn and General Winter are now present. General Autumn makes the ground wet, muddy, difficult. Thus, the Ukrainian counter-offensive will have to deal with that. From what I can see, it gained a lot of easy-to-win territory which was not particularly important. I may well be wrong on this point, but it is my best estimate. General Autumn may cause them to founder. General Winter is about to show up, hardening the ground and allowing for operations. Have the Russians taken the opportunity created by General Autumn to prepare for a serious Winter operation? Have the Ukrainians exhausted themselves in their counter-offensive? In terms of men, there seems little doubt that the Russians can call up a substantial number of personnel, many more men than the Ukrainians. Time will tell. The one sure thing that is not happening is a move to end the conflict. A shame because men, women and children are being needlessly killed and wounded. You may well know my position, which is pretty much Mq's. A stupid war for Team USA to be squandering money on, depleting our arsenals, ruining global economies, causing inflation, disrupting energy markets, and creating unnecessary risks. There is not a single strategic national interest at play which justifies our involvement in any way, shape or form. But certainly in line with our history of the past half-century of stupid, expensive, and failed wars (except for getting Saddam out of Kuwait). Chumps, chimps, and cocaine-laced comedians are in charge. Nice, huh? In our case, we have the least competent, most corrupt, dumbest President in a very, very long time in charge. Sauce the lack of competency and intelligence with a generous spoonful of dementia, and there is no way he can be relied upon to act as he should. His team is inexperienced, utterly political. Not a whiff of statesmanship anywhere. The idiot somehow thinks calling MBS a 'pariah' doesn't have consequences, so now we are on the brink of losing SA as a reliable partner. So Joe 10% throws a hissy fit. God help us. /rant
