True, but if someone has to wait till '00 for earning, then there will be many opportunities to buy. Until then, it may be best to have funds elsewhere (i.e. KO, DELL, CPQ, INTC etc.)

It appears that there will be many more opportunities to Buy LGND, however, now may not be one of them.

Todays activity, based on what was reported here to be very, very good news is a very, very bad sign.

Good luck,
--Tony

<< reasons for hesitation by investors >>
Most investors are not 'techno freaks'. They just want stocks that go up - which usually means profitable companies. The trials from 2-10 mentioned the size of the universe - 50,000. Pretty small.
---Now the reports late today, 2-11, mention Breast Cancer. I expect
LGND will get a better showing tomorrow, 2-12.
---Today LGND peeked above the 200-day MA, before pulling back to close on it. Volume slowed today, so good thing LGND did not close much higher.
OBV has turned up strongly. Price cleared and held above the 50-day MA. Upper 20% band now at 15 1/2. With the NDA in the offing, a good opportunity for LGND to break out of this old 50-day meandering trading band.
Briefing said an analyst(I forget who) last Friday called for LGND to hit $25 in a year. Let's hope that is conservative. Last fall, some of us here estimated 35 to 40. That still looks good.
Tomorrow will be instructive. Glad I added some stock today.

Good luck!
Herbert

An update by Jim Jubak on LGND which is still one of his 22 top stock picks as of Feb 17, 1998. (The only biotech pick other than LGND is ISIP)
