I've had problems with many sites today and for awhile I couldn't even stay on-line. SI has been VERY SLOW for most of the day.

Re: Auntie Em, I Had the Strangest Dream...

Hi, all. I have been on a drug-induced sabbatical (Zythromax, Prednisone, Codiene, Sudafed, and who-knows-what-else). It's amazing how one's health can affect one's outlook (I did mention that my capitulation under eleven might herald big things for LGND!)

The biotech's are maintaining their annoying underperformance relative to the ethical drug group, but at least LGND has shed its role as a laggard among biotechs: BTK, +3.34% y.t.d., DRG +12.92%, LGND +3.88%.

I do not like discussing technicals when they are "off the right side of the chart," because anyone can recognize a pattern once it has played out. I will mention, for future reference, that LGND formed a nice triangle off the January 29 downdraft. On "Fantastic Friday," LGND gapped over the apex of the triangle and gave traders a few minutes to hitch the ride (Did I trade it that well? No. Was I long going into F.F.? Yes.).

This week has been a mixed bag. I believe Friday's action was an overreaction to the quarter's results, so some consolidation (and even muted reaction to good news) is not out of order. Today's action showed LGND's ability to penetrate F.F.'s high. However, volume has been decreasing every day this week, and support at 13 3/8-1/2 failed to hold.

Key support now rests at 12 3/4-7/8, the former being the last two daily highs and the latter representing the double top of January 21 & 23. Remember my caveats about this commentary being only for entertainment purposes. You never know when the jester will decide to leave the castle for a spell. %:-)
