Officials break up homeless camp, pull out 150 stolen cars, tons of trash, live pigs My wife and I enjoyed Portland when we moved there 23 years ago from Silicon Valley. It was quiet, uncrowded, and interesting. Yesterday, my wife had to go into Portland to help a friend with a doctor's appointment. She texted me the following: "Portland is an absolute hellhole. If I never come back here again I wouldn't miss it. It's really heartbreaking to see it since we know what a great city it used to be."
