Spots.......I had a template......Pat put the magic to it.

Remember I was in the one woods? I never detailed that story. I was with my Brother in Law, and best friend who suffers from cancer. The guys who lost the tractor? We have not done that in years...

In any case we had a wonderful time, and I have wonderful story to tell his children. He's a minor Shareholder of CheckFree now too....I thank Pat for putting the pen to it just like Charlie said she would.

Hey! We're both going to be getting SI T-Shirts! Yea Haaaaaaaaa!

BTW........I need an extra-large, wife says, to get my head thru it.

Spots this is for you from the Yahoo! MSG Board from baga01

...............................................................

With Cobol2 being object oriented, you can call a 'C++' or 'VB' function even if the Cobol code is on the Mainframe and the
'C++' or 'VB' code is on a UNIX box. This is the Power of Parallel Sysplex (Thank GOD IBM is part of Integrion). In other
words the DEFINITION of a Mainframe is CHANGING, instead of one big Machine, it could comprise of Two big machines, 5 Unix boxes,
3 Web servers, 5 Lan Servers, 50 pc's, etc. With Cobol2 being Object oriented, it is as powerful a language as 'C' or 'VB'. So
I disagree with those who say, "These technologies are nearing the ends of their lifecycles." Remmember the Power of the
Mainframes is advancing as fast as Mini-computers, just talk to IBM or Hitachi(HDS).

Some nice quotes:

"That's why, as Mellon continues its growth and expansion into a
full-service financial institution, we have made a commitment to IBM's System/390(R) Parallel Sysplex (TM) technology."
Martin J. Lippert, senior vice president, information management and research, the Mellon Bank of Pittsburgh (USA).

"We're growing fast, so fast that no computer can possibly keep up with us. When we looked around for a solution, the only thing that made any sense was IBM's System/390 Parallel Sysplex."

Tom Loane, vice president of computers and communication of Alamo Car Rental

Parallel Sysplex affords multiple benefits. One is the capability to better manage multi-image MVS environments. Another is the ability to grow capacity and performance beyond the limits of a single MVS image. It frees data centers from the cycle of always buying bigger and bigger hardware engines.
John Phelps of Gartner Group

"Parallel Sysplex implementation is not an 'if' but a 'when' scenario."
Meta Group, Enterprise Data Center Strategies, 21 Dec 95.

..Just one last note, EDS just spent millions of dollars combining all there data centers into one large Parallel Sysplex, to create the most powerful processing engine in the Country.
