I accept the fact my species has been adapting to Climate ever since it climbed down from the trees.

In fact we climbed down from the trees BECAUSE the climate change and the trees thinned out.

Where I am, you have to accept and adapt to all climate changes, or else you'd go crazy. No roads out and lots of "climate".

At least with pollution, there was an actual man-made issue to deal with. Public shame and scorn could be more effective at solving that if it was allowed to do so - a'la XXX porn following the nightly news in the argument i-node gave as an example of free speech regulation. Ads would be removed soon enough.

For some reason, the scorn on some public issues is now made to be the issue with the Wokesters, rather than the offense causing the scorn. Looks like the tide, or climate is changing on that for the better.

I once used the word ludicrous on SI and later regretted it. But that was in a direct rebuke to someone and they weren't a snowflake and got over it. I think the idea that we can change climate with taxpayer dollars is a rebuke to the great quantum computer of the universe. We could wind up being buried in snowflakes in a great example of cosmic irony.

What animates this seemingly miraculous ability to adapt?

We know that:

The Universe is comprised of energy. That is all we have to deal with.

Life is a thermodynamic process that organizes energy. Like Newton's definition of Gravity, it's an operational definition, it tells us what it does, not what it is.

In our search for the source of the Universe, which we call God, This is as far as we have got. Using Religion, we have stopped looking. Using science, Sic Itur Ad Astra!
