Yes, they have to figure out how to do it to preserve
the lifetime members buyin rights. I'm not suggesting
that's easy.

But they have a flawed economic model that will bring
them down in the long run. They must generate a
continuing stream of revenue that doesn't depend upon
pyramiding members.

Brad had to get his mother to sign so he could rent an
apartment when they move to Kansas a few months ago.
After turning down 5 million because it would lose control
of SI.

These are dreams backed up by guts. I'll support that.
Think about it.

I am for the $20. Make it voluntary and I will still pay. If someone volunteers the $20 put a happy face in their personal profile:)

If enough people volunteer they could keep the up front cost down for new members. I would like to see the membership grow.

Susan: Technologically, I'm sure SI is nothing special. But I have so far not found as lively, comprehensive and intelligent a discussion as SI has going.

Unless this is due only to my internet youth then SI may be doing something in a way that's different and special enough to attract that liveliness.

Sure, it's replicable, but I think that the success of SI may be the result of the BJJ (Brad, Jeff, Jill) attitude, which seems to be not the pursuit of $$$ alone, among other things.

Just my opinion. peter
