Section 230 repeal would be a very bad idea, not just in principle, but in practice, and the latter not just for people in general, but specifically for the open speech of many who call for repeal. The big tech companies would lock down speech much harder, and their biases would be applied on the extra lock down effort. Smaller sites like SI might just shut down. If SI doesn't than the political threads might be taken down, and the other threads more tightly policed.
