I think there is still a “we” - whether we like it or not. It’s determined, for starters, by living in the same geographic location (starting with planet Earth) - also, by sharing a country, an economy, a set of laws, a political system. We all may be forced to fight and die in the same war, courtesy of our betters. And so on.

Be grateful for little things, Golfer. At least, unlike the Romans of 2000 years ago, we haven’t gone through many bloody internal wars - which they suffered during the last decades of their 500 year old Republic. But then, who knows - the future is wide open.
