". . . Yes, I admit Microsoft has beaten Apple and has a lion share of market. We congraduate them on their success.. . . "

"Congratulate" them? That's asking a lot. If ever you wanted a perfect example of the triumph of style over substance look no further than the desktop computer wars.

I use a PC at work. Frequent reboots and continual futzing with the OS are so commonplace that they've become unremarkable. To say that the PC and Windows has "caught up" with the Mac and the Mac OS is ludicrous. Yet this is now the recognized "standard." Amazing. Sculley, Spindler and Amelio ought to be hunted down and shot for letting the Mac get beat in the marketplace by such inferior crap.

Here's an article you might find interesting: backoffice.com.

Phil (or anyone else),

What type of impact do you think Apple's current advertising budget will have have on Q2 profits?

Thanks,
Scott

Philip: I agree with you mentioning that it is (was?) more urgent for Apple to gain profitability versus increasing market share. The sine qua non condition of any business is to make money; you can not declare a dividend with "market share" but with cash. After you have stabilized the business with healthy gross and net margins then you can invest to increase market share and eventually earn more money. I maybe wrong but I sincerely think Jobs is doing and will be doing the right thing for Apple; you see he is not your usual CEO but Apple is not as well your usual Corporation. Good luck to all, Fernando
