The biggest thing that happened last night was the ending of the era of Trump and the beginning of the era of DeSantis.
I’d like it to be this way - but not sure that’s the case. Donald Trump has an enormous very loyal support base. If someone wins over him in the primaries, it’s likely to be a Pyrrhic victory - with Rep voters deeply divided, that person will be at a serious disadvantage. Unless Trump decides not to run - running against him is likely to be a losing proposition.

I think yesterday’s big lesson was something people knew, like, forever - it’s too risky to run on being NOT the Other Guy. You need ideas - and a vision. That’s what was missing.

De Santis has it. Actually, would be curious if other candidates would try using his coat tales - like, “I want to be a real American Governor, like Ron DeSantis” - and expand on similar ideas. Might have worked.

I think you're right. His victory speech last night was excellent.

Not sure how people are getting to the "end of Trump era" with this election?

Trump went something like 115+ - 7? with his endorsements (some still up in the air).....DeSantis was 0 for 1 with O'Dea....

Wonder how Floridians would feel if their newly elected GOV abandoned the state after 6-months to hit the 2024 presidential campaign trail? DeSantis didn't amass 200+M$$$ from large donors to retain his governor-ship. Maybe he's in wait and see mode until PDJT declares (or not), but it seems unlikely that he's not going to run.
