Wow! What a great quarter and year-end report! The strong Q4 profit puts the company-viability question to bed, IMO. The list of new customers for Q4 was very good, although I would categorize most of these customers in the 'who cares' category. However, the company landed at least two massive deals that will go a long way to bring in new business -- Fidelity and First Union. Fidelity signed-up for 4,000 licenses for their call center. For a company like Fidelity, you don't get more mission-critical than this. First Union's aiming for a multi-terabyte warehouse. I can't overstate how important these deals will be for Informix. These companies are the best-of-the-best in the U.S. Their confidence in Informix will definitely contribute to winning new large, enterprise contracts.

All of this while Oracle stumbles. 1998 may prove to be a fantastic year after all!
