Re: E-mail distribution of Marketimer. This issue's come up before over on the aol bob Brinker ABC radio site (which I can't seem to find anymore) Anyway when one overly persistent subscriber started arguing and almost harassing Bob about it Bob finally said if he and a few other "whiners" were not happy he would be happy to cancel their subscription and I think send back a partial refund or something. He made it clear he doesn't find it feasable since people could just easily violate copyright and forward the E-mailed newsletter to a vast amount of people and could end up on the internet etc. and be a much bigger problem than the paper copy. By the way if people are still getting into that aol site let me know, maybe it's just been busy when I've tried to get in. His site was a main reason I kept aol along with my ISP

How can someone send an email that is *locked* to ensure it is not illegally forwarded to anyone else? You might reply, well I could also copy the letter and fax/mail it everyone. Or you may scan in the letter and email a scanned copy. All of these other methods require some effort on your part and are a blatant violation of copyright rules. Email forwarding can be accomplished in seconds and is not as clear a violation of copyright rules. I forward emails that I receieve everyday to dozens of people. It takes seconds. If people received the letter via email, undoubtedly it would be illegally forwarded (distributed) to unpaying subscribes. This is unfair to all of the loyal paying subscribers.

The web does offer some interesting possibilities but you must realize it also increases the costs significantly. One would need to maintain a login/password for all *registered* guests. What would prevent someone from *sharing* their login/pw with others?

As you can see, distributing the letter electronically presents some very challenging hurdles that still need to be conquered.
