The book detailing Major White's polar expedition, "World in peril: The origin, mission, and scientific findings of the 46th/72nd Reconnaissance Squadron" (written by his son) describes the stratigraphy showing ~12,000 yr. layers alternating from equatorial to polar conditions. The book is the original source material for the evidence of crustal displacement. The mechanism is one of the last things Einstein was working on.
