At the time of Jesus, a home was one room. Did they have 10 kids in that one room? No, they had one or two. In fact, we can look at all of human history and not find many confirmed cases of large families until after WW2, but even that was short-lived. Why not? A lot of abortions. I'm referring to the average person (think wealth) here.
