Imagine a Trump and Desantis ticket. I'd argue that only the 2 of them together on one ticket would be powerful enough to control the dialog so we can force the cheating scandal to stop. That's where DeSantis let the country down, either rejecting the offer or running himself in 2024. Weakened MAGA. I think he was briefed and fell off.

Look at US involvement in the war in Ukraine. The vast majority of the GOP establishment is 100% united with Biden/Dems/neocons: they want full-scale US role. Opposition only comes from the MAGA wing of the GOP (MTG/Tucker) and the anti-imperialist left unrepresented in Congress.
Glenn Greenwald is a very smart guy. I think he nailed it.

Donald Trump appealed to the middle and the working classes, small businesspeople, Hispanics, blacks. Normal everyday people. But - while those people can give a President the victory - they cannot run the country, there is still need for members of the higher echelons. Mattis was a General with many stars. Pompeo - a former Congressman and a CIA director. Hey, Trump even interviewed Romney for the SoS job!

As far as I can tell, he still doesn’t have much of a following among the apparatchik classes.

Kanye West was one of the first to point out how Kushner was not always giving Trump good advice. Jared was effective in some of the things he was tasked with, but his role in a new Trump administration should be restricted if he's going against the MAGA goals that Greenwald describes. I say restricted, because it's obvious that he's not going to be cut out completely. Pompeo probably will be, though.

Kanye was right. Oh, no... Cut that guy's connections to the world. Reeducation camp time.
