Elephant & Castle Announce Additional Canadian Rainforest Cafe Locations

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 1998-- Elephant & Castle Group Inc. (Nasdaq:PUBSF) (PACIFIC:PUB) today announced today that it has executed lease documentation to develop a 300-seat, 17,000 square foot Rainforest Cafe in the historic landmark Montreal Forum Building with Canderel of Montreal, Quebec.

The Montreal Forum, former home to the Montreal Canadians NHL team is being developed into a mega Entertainment Complex and will also feature Canada's first 30-screen AMC Theatre.

The Company also announced that it has entered into letters of intent for an additional two more Rainforest Cafe locations in the Ontario market and anticipate executed lease documentation to be concluded shortly.

In 1997, the Company announced it had entered into a joint venture agreement with the Rainforest Cafe, Inc. (NATIONAL MARKET:RAIN) for the development of Rainforest Cafe units in Canada. The first of these "entertainment" locations is expected to open this summer in Metrotown Eaton Centre in Burnaby, British Columbia.

The company's flagship brand, Elephant & Castle Pub restaurants is an authentic British-style pub and restaurant concept. The corporation also owns and operates full-service restaurants under the trade names Alamo Grill Steakhouse and Rosie's on Robson.
