It's a tough call right now. I read both bull and bear managers are playing like it's a lasting bounce. Bulls are hoping to dress their year so they don't look so bad and get fired. Bears are locking in their gains for the year so they don't risk giving any back.
I thought today was strange when the dollar was down big to 106 but most commodities were deeply red.
Defensive stocks got sold early, a lot of my remaining stuff was flat to slightly down despite the huge gap up open. However a bunch of my bird dog stocks quickly faded and defence found the floor and started climbing back. That's when I stopped trading. I came back and saw it rolled over then the Russian rocket news hit. I scalped a bunch and was going to quit but got greedy and tried one more when first test of 4000 failed and gave a little back so now quitting for good today.... probably. LOL
A LOT of calls have been opened the last two days so that should limit upside unless there's more good news.
New York empire news this morning was the first positive in months. I think it was negative 9.1 last month and positive 4.5 today. Redbook was blah, not strong or weak, just going back to trend.
I think this week will be mainly op ex games now.
NVDA Thursday might provide fireworks. Expectations have been lowered so far yet it's trading like it's 2021. Expectations are for 40% drop in sales and 20% drop in earnings but it's being valued like those numbers are growth instead of declines.
As far as recession, like you said, there's still time before that reality hits home. We're still celebrating 7.7% inflation. LOL Nuts!!! WMT sales down 7% with 7-8% inflation is double digit decline. Party on Garth.
Liquidity is still thin. While I was trading SPXL, it was jumping back and forth like crazy this afternoon. No depth at all. I was going to play some other stuff this morning when I thought it was going to be a stronger up day for swing trades and the spreads were wider than normal. I have to wonder if a lot of people are just sitting on their hands.

PS - My bucks so far are being smart and staying on my land during hunting season. My biggest buck keeps standing in the middle of my front field by the highway though. You can tell turkey season is over though. Normally I only see 4 at a time but the last couple days I've had a dozen or more in the yard morning and evening. Dogs go crazy watching through the window.
This weekend is my nightmare. The neighbor lets his grandkids hunt his land and the jerks always sit next to my fence and claim the stuff they shot jumped to my side after they shot it. I have better things to do than patrol up and down the fence line plus I worry I might scare something to his side.
