In the warm-up to the Trump announcement, MTG was interviewed and said that the R margin in the House is so small that they are worried that a couple of reps could be lured over to support Nancy for more of the same. She said the Freedom Caucus was going to stay with McCarthy to keep things together. Sounds like they're worried about divide and conquer strategies. I don't know what it would matter to challenge McConnell if the Senate is going blue. I thought I heard it was. Maybe it's still a tie? I know that Georgia is on delay now. People are probably worried about the committee selections. Investigations are going to be the big thing upcoming, rather than legislation.
