Walker's son knows him a lot better than you or me:

I don't know if you are a father or not, but it takes an awful lot for a child to turn against you.

From the standpoint of religious faith, there is no question abortion is murder. But I support the separation of religion from State in terms of making public policy. Moreover, from the Protestant standpoint of human reason, it is not clear that abortion is Murder since reason and faith, from a Lutheran standpoint are two totally different realms. Human reason cannot comprehend religious faith from a Lutheran standpoint and I see no reason to impose my faith on others. As I said before, there are valid arguments to support pro life and pro choice positions. Kant would call such a predicament the antinomies of pure theoretical reason.

From a personal standpoint, I am vehemently opposed to abortion and pleaded with my late wife not to have one, but to no avail. I even seriously considered divorce, but did not want to become a weekend father so I did not pursue that.

Life is not always as clear cut as you suggest. There are always other points of view to consider. I am not suggesting paralysis, just respect for difference of opinion, especially when the difference of opinion here has good reason behind it too, pending the vantage point.
