Can'tTrust (TRST-T HALTED) Trio Seeks Acquittal

There's an apocryphal Mark Twain line I think about a lot - “It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.” Seems like sage advice for the Ontario Securities Commission, after the regulator withdrew its case against former CannTrust chief executive officer Peter Aceto, former chairman Eric Paul and former director Mark Litwin over allegations the trio allowed unlicensed cannabis to grow over the course of late 2018 through early 2019. Basically, a key witness conceded that allegation may not actually fit within the reality of the situation - the facility in question *was* licensed, though certain individual rooms had not been entirely green lit for production, blowing a hole in the OSC's case and leading to a lawyer for the regulator to concede there's no probable path to conviction. In any case, the parties are back before the judge today, where the CannTrust trio are seeking a full acquittal rather than just the withdrawal of charges. (Fortunately, I am aware I am not a lawyer, so I will say that an acquittal is a better legal outcome for the former execs, and leave it at that.)
