RE: " Don't ever underestimate the resource of...."

Stockbull I agree.

But apparently the only company that concern applies too is IOM. There are tons of people who see no threat to AOL from telephone companies (I here several are joining forces. news announcement out this morning), Microsoft, and other large entities with considerable resources. Its amazing how one argument, that has been consistently used by the industry when referring to IOM, is so quickly forgotten when they hold there regular love feasts involving AOL. Short-term, the industry's facination with AOL and the Internet will likely buoy AOL's and other 'Hyped" Internet companies stock price. I don't know when it will turn, but it will.

AOL is in the commodity business. I can find everything they offer (even the fool) on the Internet for free. I can't wait to see how the price increase affects AOL's customer base. Remember this highly praised growth last quarter was purchased (Compuserve). In addition, membership grew from 6 million to 12 million after they went to $19.95. It would only take one sixth of these new customers who were attracted by the new pricing plan to defect for the announced price increase to be completely offset. IMO, AOL has become a ponsie (sp?) scheme. Those who get in and out first will do wonderfully. The others won't be so lucky. Time will tell.

Later,

John
