Any thoughts on TLK, P.T. Telkom? My 'hunch' is we may get one more good panic (crisis) in Indonesia before it 'stabilizes'.

With Jakarta down 9% overnight, methinks you'll have an oppty to purchase cheaper and cheaper than today. Good going on the one that doubled for you.

Social strife = II phase

Derrick:

There was a good bit of talk in the WSJ today about Indonesia; IMF, Japanese/foreign loans, currency boards, and of course riots.

I also heard this morning that the Korean Trade Unions are planning a strike as well lead by Hyundai employees. Since Korea has a very strong Union, this may be the beginning of a country wide strike which could unsettle the markets, particulary the Asian markets. There is also news about sporadic riots in Indonesia and Suharto seems worried as he thinks the riots are the result of a secret plan to get rid off him and he even suspects a coup attempt in the making.

The inevitable results of the financial crisis in SEA are now being felt by these countries in the form rising unemployment, high interest rates, and steep inflation which in turn set off social unrest.I wonder whether this could be the second phase of the crisis that some pundits predicted earlier in various circles ??

+Tom or anyone. Derrick?

Mutual Fund Public Company, Ltd. Thailand the last quote I have is 118 bhat. Perhaps the only profitable financial institution in in Thailand, along with being the only listed mutal fund mgmt fund company in the country. Not a buy now but a buy perhaps later. Traded in the US MTDFF (OTC)? But can't find it or get to it.

Any suggestions?
