Thanks, Mq - that’s another tour de force, comprehensive post, covering a multitude of issues, from Ursula to genetics of homosexuality and to the beauties of voting and democracy…. Nice - serious, lite, informing, entertaining.

I understand the advantages - for TWTR, for Musk and for all of us - in making a semi-playful show of putting the Trump reinstatement issue to vote. Even Trump is likely benefitting from it - a one day, 15 million vote referendum on his candidacy. Since he won - and since he, hopefully, understands that he won despite a great organized effort to defeat him, involving, I’m sure, a high percentage of votes by bots. Bots will generally cast their votes in the direction ordered by their owners / handlers. I’d suspect, most bots are of leftist persuasions.

So, Trump could request a study - and get estimate of how many bots voted, and what percentages of them voted in his favor or against. Correcting the total number of votes for the number of bots, he could derive some very valuable estimates of his true support.

I think the Trump campaign should be studying this TWTR vote event very thoroughly.

Of course, it’s also interesting marketing / publicity for the New Twitter.

There is risk, however. Trump is involved with another platform - Truth Social. He also owns some kind of a platform. Apparently, it would cost him money to walk away from those other commitments.

Moreover, the Don has a Big Don ego. He, understandably and correctly, thinks that his ban was unjust and wrong. So, he may think that his reinstatement should have been prompt and automatic, not subject to any votes. And Trump is a valuable user - he may bring with him - or turn away - millions of users and Rep voters.

<Upvotes and downvotes could also apply to individuals within Twitter, not just individual posts.>

Predictably, 51% would vote to ban and silence 49%. Tyranny of the majority.

The 49% then move to alt-Twitter. mastadon joinmastodon.org or something else.

So……Everyone only talks to those who reinforce their prior prejudices……

Creating the conditions for civil war.

they were born that way.
In some cases, but, as with brandy, coffee, and cigar smoke, it's mostly an acquired taste. Or so I'm told.
