One thing I am sure of … If Twitter goes bankrupt, it will be a bankruptcy by design likely with (most) current lenders converting their loans into equity and the expectation of Twitter going public again in a few years. Short term tax write-offs in exchange for long term capital gains.

Same for Musk. He could claim a capital loss which would defer the capital gains tax he faces due to his recent Tesla share sales.
