Michael Crichton listed "Playing God in Yellowstone" as one of his references for State of Fear.

I have not read the book but have seen a lot of quotes from it.

Another excellent book for the tourist / visitor is:

Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon

I guarantee you will never pose for a picture at the edge of a cliff after reading this book.

Talk about playing God in Yellowstone...

Very hush-hush is the fact that the Feds have contractors drill pressure-relieving holes in the caldera every few years. My wife used to work for the caisson company that did the work. They use their huge caisson drillers to drill the big holes out in the middle of nowhere.
