This news is about a week old, but Reuters apparently reported the Indonesian government would be increasing its exploration budget from $0.9 billion in 1997 to $1.5 billion in 1998. That's a 67% increase.

At a very basic and unsophisticated level, the charts of almost all co.'s in this sector that I have looked at (about 15 co.'s) are displaying a classic turnaround pattern of bottom followed by a series of higher lows. If things break strongly to the downside in the next few days the pattern will be broken and may establish a new bottom. But if prices are positive, neutral or slightly negative the upward pattern will remain intact. Fingers crossed...

This does not take moving averages, Bollinger bands, Elliot waves, candle patterns, lava lamps or Beatles revivals into account.
