I am very careful with late night / dark walks. Too many skunks around. They are virtually impossible to spot in the dark and they are certainly not fearful of dogs or people much like our resident racoons. It usually comes down to a waiting / who is better in staring down whom game. PS: I am very lucky to have a dog (and always had dogs) which I can trust 99% of the time. The 1 percent has produced a few really bad smelling dogs :-)
