Nothing wrong with TQNT erns. Big story is the conference call & future

Subject: Q4 Diluted EPS .17

Message-id:

TriQuint reported .17 Q4 EPS on $18.4mm in revs. Everything pretty much as expected in last quarter. Slight gross margin impact was result of poor yields at the Beaverton Fab which was shut down at Dec. 31. Yields in new fab were not effected and the plant is up and running. They have fully transitioned to their new facility and pretty much put that risk behind them on the conference call. The management gave a very upbeat view of the business
in 1998 with wireless driving the revenue growth. The acquistion of the MMIC business in Texas will cause 1x charges in Q1 98 for write-off's of in -process research and other items.

In the press release TQNT mentions having the ability to service their traditional customers in wireless, telecom, and computing as well as new customers in new markets. TQNT seems to be taking the position that a broad product offering along with a large diversified customer base will allow them to stay ahead of the competition as well as insulate them from product dependency. An impressive stat was revealed on conference call that their largest
cust was Northern Telecom @ 12% revs. In 1997 TQNT had 19 customers with > $1mm in Sales vs 8 in 1996.

This should help you understand why stock went up & give you lots of faith in the future.
